ЂAncient Armenian Chantsї
Marlena Mosh (vocal)
Alexander Malkus (piano)
The concert of singer Marlena MOSH to be held on November 23 at the Hopner House will introduce us to different aspects of the Armenian musical culture and give us an opportunity to feel its unusual presentation Ц after all, the Armenian music has been set a totally different development path compared to the European music, it has been influenced by various cultural epochs in a different manner, and todayТs music is characterized by another distribution of creative impulses that go back to the ancient folk traditions and the European professional art.
The singerТs voice flows naturally like a mountain stream ... her voice is extremely pure and heart-touching, and we start seeing images of what the song is about ... Mosh has found her unique style of performance, while keeping the truly Armenian tone.
Ancient Armenian Christian chants Ц Sharakans, Taghs in the spiritual and prayer interpretation, the music of Komitas and Sayat Nova, and traditional folk songs will be presented at the concert. It will include the musical world of Armenia for the period from the 5th to the 21st century. The unique feature of this concert is that the singerТs voice allows to bring up the most complex melismas of the oldest chants.
Many songs are accompanied by the famous pianist Alexander Malkus, teacher at the Moscow Conservatory.
ЂWhat can a guest expect from and what can he/she find at this meeting? Beauty!!! Ц piercing and bright like the sun of Armenia, ... mysteriously sad like the voice of its soul, and magically unattainable like the shining peak of Ararat.ї
